Trump administration birth control mandate rollback
We were disheartened to learn that the Trump administration has rolled back the Affordable Care Act contraceptive mandate to allow any employer with a moral objection the ability to offer private health insurance plans that do not include coverage of birth control.
If Upstream’s work has shown us one thing, it’s that expanding access to birth control benefits everyone. We remain committed to ensuring that Upstream-trained providers offer all women – regardless of where they live, their income, or their insurance status – easy, no cost access to the full range of birth control options.
As a privately funded organization, our work will continue, and we are grateful for our supporters. In Delaware, we remain committed to making all methods of birth control available for free for all women and we look forward to expanding to future states.
For me personally, it means a renewed effort to double down and do extraordinary work. I continue to believe that Upstream will prove that broad access to birth control not only leads to a reduction in unplanned pregnancies and improved birth outcomes, but also cost savings to society that are aligned with what women want for themselves.
